Spreading false news: Witnesses to be heard on Dec 28
Manama : Prosecution witnesses will be heard on December 28 in the trial of Nabeel Rajab who is accused of spreading false news on the ongoing military operation in Yemen.
According to court files, the defendant also reportedly broadcast tweets that contained ill-remarks and offensive reports against the Interior Ministry.
The defendant, in his tweet, alleged that the Ministry of Interior is torturing prisoners, humiliating them, denying education and is degrading their dignity. He, through the same medium, depicted the measures taken by the security forces during the Jaw Prison riots as ‘torture’.
The Capital Governorate’s Prosecution Chief Mohammed Al Maliki stated earlier in a statement that the man tweeted false news on the ongoing military operation in Yemen which is taking place in support of the legitimate government.
He is also charged with insulting a sister country.
