Bahrain succeeds in Polio eradication

Manama : The Kingdom is safe from Polio, according to Polio Outbreak Simulation Exercise Regional Coordinator Dr. Tariq Abdulrahman Al-Sayyed. “This has been achieved 

through Bahrain Polio immunisation, routine vaccination and contingency measures. We have achieved more than 95pc success.”

Dr. Al Sayyed revealed this during his meeting with Minister of Health Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh here yesterday.  

The Regional Coordinator also stressed the importance of continuing strenuous efforts to promote and support immunisation and monitoring measures until Polio is totally eradicated from the world. 

The Minister also commended the efforts of the Regional Coordinator to support Polio control programmes. She stressed on cooperation to further develop therapeutic services. Public Health Director Dr. Mariam Al-Hajeri, Disease Control Department Chief Dr. Adel Al-Sayyad and Immunisation Unit Chairman Dr. Jalila Al-Sayyed were also present.
