Bahraini granted bail after attacking expat girlfriend

Manama : The High Criminal Court granted BD100 bail to a Bahraini man accused of beating his Russian girlfriend. 

The defendant, aged 26, is alleged to have fiercely attacked the victim while he was drunk. The Russian woman said that the alleged assailant was in an abnormal condition when he severely beat her. 

“We were out and suddenly he got involved in a road accident. I asked him to call police to solve the issue, but he told me that his friend works as a police officer and he would handle it,” the Russian woman said. “We went to a fast food outlet in Juffair, and I told him, “If you are busy am going back home in a taxi.”

“Suddenly he shouted at me and lost his temper. He took me to the car and banged my head against a small fridge that was in the car. He continued beating me from Juffair to Hamad Town,” the woman added. 

The woman escaped from the car when it stopped, but the man chased her and pelted stones at her, according to her statement. 

“He dragged me into the car, banged my head against the door and kicked me. I was saved by a man, who prevented him from attacking me,” she added. 

The 26-year-old man was found to be involved in 63 cases, including robbery and drug consumption.
