Israel and IS are two sides of the same coin : Bahrain MP

Manama : A Bahraini lawmaker described Israel and the IS as two sides of the same coin as they continuously target innocent civilians.

This was stated by MP Abbas Al Madhi during the opening session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly meetings in Amman, Jordan.

Al Madhi, who’s heading the Bahraini delegation to the meetings, said, “Terrorist organisations such as the Israeli entity, IS, Al Qaeda and other organisations target civilians and directly assault public utilities like schools hospitals and worship places. These are considered as war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

“The violent and terrorist acts of the Israeli entity aren’t different from what the IS is doing by killing, displacing and starving civilians. The international community should bear its humanitarian responsibilities towards several Asian countries that are suffering from violence, extremism, terrorism, mass destruction and the killing of innocent civilians, especially in Arabian countries like Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Yemen,” Al Madhi stated.

The MP’s statements came within the meetings of the committee concerned of political affairs in the assembly. He also called for more international parliamentary cooperation to combat terrorism and violent extremism.

The meetings, which began yesterday and are scheduled to conclude today saw the participation of Parliamentary representatives from 14 Asian countries.

Delegations from Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Comoros, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lebanon, Iran, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey are taking part in the assembly meetings.

Along with Al Madhi, the Bahraini delegation consisted of MPs Mohammed Al Ammadi and Ahmed Qarata, in addition to Shura Council members Dr. Abdulaziz Abul and Mohammed Al Khoza’ee.
