Bahrain Team shine in Kuwait

Manama: Bahrain Triathlon Team members claimed five podium positions in the first Kuwait Triathlon Championship with the participation of 300 competitors, among them were a large number of professionals.

Despite the strongfield, Bahrain’s triathletes were up to the challenge with Mohammad Isa, Nawaf Al Daen and Hamad Al Mansouri finishing first, second and third respectively in the Sprint Challenge which started with a 750 metre swim in the Arabian Gulf, followed by 24km cycling and a 5km run.

Compatriots Mohammed Mubarak and Omar Abdullah outraced their rivals to finish first and second respectively in the Super Sprint Challenge which included a 375 metre swim, then 12km cycling and a 2.5km run to finish in first and second places.

Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Triathlon Association extended his congratulations to the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the success achieved by the Bahraini team in the championship. He pointed out that the results of the Bahraini participants in the championship came as a result of the unwavering support extended by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee to the Bahrain Triathlon Team, underlining his constant instructions have been instrumental in the success achieved by the Bahraini participants.

He also stressed on the importance of putting more efforts in developing this sport in Bahrain as well as expanding the participation of the Bahrain Triathlon Team in overseas competition to bolster their abilities and achieve more successes.
