Bahraini coach Abdulrahman Mohammed claimed his first trophy with Sharjah yesterday after guiding the Emirati side to the 2026-27 UAE Super Cup title.

Mohammed, nicknamed “The Joker”, saw his team defeat Shabab Al Ahli 30-25 at Kalba Club Hall to lift the trophy for an eighth time.

The result took Sharjah’s overall haul of domestic and continental titles to 54, more than any other Emirati club.

They had reached the final by beating Al Dhaid 30-24, while Shabab Al Ahli advanced with a 39-36 victory over Al Nasr.

Mohammed took charge of Sharjah in July after previously coaching Bahrain’s Al Najma, where he led the first team at the 28th Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship.

He also guided Bahrain’s under-19 team to six successive victories and the 2026 Asian Men’s Youth Championship final, securing the kingdom’s qualification for the 2027 World Championship.

The Super Cup success provides an early boost as Mohammed looks to challenge for further honours at home and abroad during his first season with Sharjah.
