‘I want to bring best to Bahrain’

ManamaCiting Malaysian companies’ strong presence in the Kingdom, Malaysian Ambassador to the Kingdom Ahmad Shahizan Abd Samad said that the recent BahrainF1 race winner bear the logo of Petronas, the Malaysian oil giant. 

“I want to bring the best to Bahrain from our country. If I can bring Datuk Maznah along with the investor associated with the waste treatment plant, it will be a big boost for Bahrain. They can make a big difference in the Kingdom,” he remarked.

“Many of the roads and bridges in the Kingdom were built by Malaysian companies. Our leading banks are present here and many Malaysian companies have been serving the Kingdom for long. We can help in the development of Bahrain in a big way,” Abd Samad explained. 

“Bahrain is 40 per cent cheaper to do business compared to other countries in the region. We want to convert Bahrain as a gateway for our trade relations with the region.” 

“Datuk Maznah and others will be investing in trade, education, tourism, security business, logistic services, entrepreneurship training, software development, internet-based solutions, landscaping, and many other sectors,” he informed.

According to the ambassador, Malaysian investors can bring quality changes in the Kingdom’s tourism sector. “Also, Halal industry can be developed in a big way here.” 

He is hopeful that Gulf Air will start direct flight between Bahrain and Malaysia by 2018.

Malaysian company SIRIM has signed an MoU with Ministry of works to bring in quality standards and safety. The company can test and certify products, including cement, which are now sent to European countries for quality check and is expected to start operation soon. “Other companies under the direct control of the Malaysian Government are also interested to play a bigger role in the Kingdom,” he added.
