Information Minister praises royal directives to boost national media

Manama : Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi described the royal directives as a beacon to promote the national media sector and boost its pivotal role in safeguarding the kingdom's security and preserving its national, GCC and Arab identity.

The Information Minister extended thanks and respect to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the royal trust in appointing him as Minister of the Information Affairs, pledging to perform his duties in bolstering the competence and efficiency of the mass media in Bahrain. He also underscored the importance of responsible freedom, objectivity and transparency, stressing that developing human resources, enhancing the financial and administrative competence and improving the legislative, organisational and technical climate is top priority to upgrade the media and telecommunication sector. He pointed out keenness to foster cooperation and partnership with the national press and media institutions and boost their commitment to the professional and ethical standards as well as international conventions. He underlined the importance of coordination with the High Authority for Information and Communication, which is chaired by Personal Representative of HM the King Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in boosting patriotism and loyalty to the nation and leadership as well as promoting values of tolerance, unity and co-existence.

The Information Affairs Minister reiterated commitment of all the ministry affiliates to dedicated work to boost the role of the media in protecting security of the GCC countries, consolidate their unity and progress towards the GCC union and promote cooperation with the Arab and international media institutions to project the pioneering royal reforms.
