Asian parliamentary cooperation discussed in Bahrain-Indonesia talks

MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, representing Bahrain as the country holding the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), met with the head of the Indonesian parliamentary delegation on the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania.

The meeting, held during the IPU Assembly taking place from October 5 to 9, focused on ways to strengthen Asian parliamentary cooperation and enhance coordination between the two sides.

Discussions also covered a proposal to transform the Asian Parliamentary Assembly into the Asian Parliamentary Union, with the aim of further developing its work and strengthening its approach in line with the aspirations of Asian parliaments and international developments.

The two sides also discussed the opening of nominations for the next Secretary General of the APA following the conclusion of the current Secretary General’s term.
