HRH Reviews Grand Prix Success, Asian Games Results and National Priorities
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the successful organisation of the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, marking the 22nd edition of the event. The race was hosted by Malaysia with the blessings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, and was attended by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, for his support in hosting the race, and commended the Malaysian government, led by HE Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, for its role in the event’s success.
It also praised the efforts of Team Bahrain, Formula 1 organisers, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit and all participating teams.
The Cabinet welcomed the opening of the Kingdom’s Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness, and highlighted its importance in strengthening Bahrain-Malaysia relations.
The Cabinet also congratulated His Majesty the King on Bahrain’s participation in the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, where the Kingdom ranked first among Arab countries and secured 22 medals. The national handball team also won its first-ever gold medal.
The Cabinet commended the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, in advancing Bahrain’s sports sector.
The Cabinet highlighted His Royal Highness’s visit to the Ministry of Information and the National Communication Centre (NCC), expressing appreciation for the national workforce at both institutions and the local press for carrying out their duties amid the hostile Iranian aggression against Bahrain.
The Cabinet also condemned continued attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi group against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the latest attack targeting the Taibah Power Distribution Station in Madinah, which supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque.
The Cabinet described the attack as a violation of humanitarian and international law, the charters of the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as well as religious and moral values.
The Cabinet further reviewed the outcomes of the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
