Housing Minister highlights wider options and private-sector partnerships

Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that expanding housing options and strengthening partnerships with the private sector are central to Bahrain’s efforts to further develop social housing services.

On the occasion of World Habitat Day, held this year under the theme “Adequate Housing for All”, Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi said housing policies, urban planning and development partnerships must work together to provide diverse housing options and integrated communities that meet citizens’ current and future needs.

Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi said His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to accelerate housing projects and provide 50,000 housing units represent a key pillar of efforts to advance the Kingdom’s social housing sector.

She noted that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is pursuing an integrated approach that includes expanding housing projects, diversifying financing solutions and strengthening cooperation with the private sector to accelerate housing services and broaden options available to citizens.

Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi also highlighted efforts to better integrate housing projects with financing programmes, ensuring that suitable financing solutions keep pace with the growing range of housing options and citizens’ financial capabilities.

She said the approach will help citizens access housing services more efficiently while enhancing the sector’s ability to respond to changing needs and future demand.
