Marriage Certificates Now Issued in Two Days

The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf has upgraded its digital service for issuing official marriage certificates, making the process faster and more convenient for couples.

The enhanced service reduces the processing time from three working days to two, enables fully digital processing, and cuts the number of required documents by 50 percent.

Dana Khamis Al Zayani, Undersecretary of Courts, Family Conciliation and Alimony at the Ministry, said that once a marriage contract is certified by the competent Sharia court, both spouses will receive a text message confirming the issuance of the official electronic marriage certificate.

A printed copy can also be provided upon request.

The service upgrade forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve service quality and re-engineer public services through digital transformation.

More than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, while 800 services are undergoing development and re-engineering across various government sectors.

The improvements draw on suggestions and feedback submitted through the national Tawasul system, investor feedback and mystery shopper reports assessing government services.

The government has also introduced user guides and service-level agreements aimed at improving efficiency, service quality and the overall beneficiary experience.
