Bahrain backs UN condemnation of Houthi attacks

Kingdom reaffirms solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for maritime security

Bahrain welcomed a statement by members of the United Nations Security Council condemning missile attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia and attacks targeting commercial vessels.

The statement also stressed the importance of international law, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and freedom of maritime navigation.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Kingdom’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, stability and vital interests.

The ministry said Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are an integral part of the security of Bahrain and other GCC states, citing the longstanding ties between the two countries and the GCC Joint Defence Agreement.

Bahrain also praised Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic, humanitarian and development efforts in Yemen, as well as its role in strengthening maritime security, protecting international trade and safeguarding global energy supplies.
