Bahrain's senior men's national basketball team has stepped up preparations for next month's opening round of the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 pre-qualifiers, with head coach Slobodan Subotic continuing to fine-tune his squad ahead of the tournament in Dubai.

The national team has been training at the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) Arena in Um Al Hassam as part of its build-up to the regional qualifiers, which get underway in just under a month.

Subotic, appointed by the Bahrain Basketball Association earlier this month, has focused on raising the squad's physical conditioning while also working on technical and tactical aspects during training as Bahrain aims to reach peak form before the competition begins.

The Kingdom will compete in Group A of the first round of pre-qualifiers alongside hosts the UAE, Oman, Nepal and Kuwait. Bahrain opens its campaign against Oman on August 27 before facing the UAE a day later. Following a rest day, they take on Nepal on August 30 before concluding the group stage against Kuwait on August 31.

The tournament marks the first major assignment for Subotic since replacing Greek coach Georgios Vovoras, with Bahrain targeting progression to the second round of pre-qualifiers later this year.

The current training squad includes Nader Shaker, Hassan Fahad, Ali Mohsen, Abdulqader Salah, Mahmood Abbas, Mohammed Buallay, Mustafa Hussain, Ahmed Al Derazi, Muzamil Ameer, Ahmed Salman, Ali Hussain, Emran Hussain, JaKarr Sampson, Ali Jaber, Mohammed Nasser, Mohammed Ghazi, Hamad Faisal and Ahmed Bindayneh.
