Bahrain and Japan Explore New Cooperation in Energy and Sustainability

Bahrain's Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Daina, held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with senior Japanese officials on the sidelines of the Island Nations Ocean Summit in Tokyo. He was accompanied by Bahrain's Ambassador to Japan, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Dosari, and Supreme Council for the Environment CEO, Amna Hamad Al-Rumaihi.

Dr. Bin Daina met Japan's State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Kenji Yamada, to explore cooperation in energy and industry, and to discuss investment opportunities and technical exchange between the two nations.

Tackling Climate and Marine Challenges

In a separate meeting with Japan's Deputy Minister of Environment for Global Environmental Affairs, Doi Kentaro, both sides reviewed Bahrain's environmental and climate efforts and discussed knowledge-sharing partnerships in scientific research, marine risk monitoring, and climate change.The Minister also met Yohei Sasakawa, Honorary President of the Nippon Foundation, to explore collaboration on environmental sustainability and evidence-based planning to protect island nations and coastal communities.

The delegation additionally met officials from Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority to discuss technical cooperation, regulatory best practices, and the exchange of oversight expertise.
