Bahrain Curbs Travel Marketing to Iran and Iraq
Travel agencies in Bahrain have been instructed to immediately stop all advertisements, offers, and travel programmes to Iran and Iraq, following a government ban on Bahraini citizens travelling to the two countries.
The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority issued an administrative circular on 3 June 2026 to travel and tourism companies, stating that the suspension would remain in effect until further notice.
The directive said the decision aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s ban on travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, and is intended to protect the safety and security of Bahraini citizens.
All travel firms have been ordered to immediately withdraw any promotional material or tourism packages linked to the two destinations.
The authority warned that legal action would be taken against companies that fail to comply with the circular.
It also called for full cooperation from the tourism sector, while expressing appreciation for the role of travel agencies in developing Bahrain’s tourism services. The circular stated that these measures are part of broader efforts to safeguard citizens.
