The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has announced a week-long programme of cultural events to mark International Museum Day celebrations under this year’s global theme, “Museums Unite a Divided World.”
The activities, scheduled from May 16 to May 23, will take place across several museums in the Kingdom, including the Bahrain National Museum, the Bahrain Fort Site Museum and the Postal Museum, alongside the participation of the Kanoo Museum as part of a public-private cultural partnership initiative.
The programme includes guided tours, interactive workshops and specialised lectures designed for visitors of different age groups, highlighting museums as trusted public spaces and an essential part of Bahrain’s shared social fabric.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the exhibition, “His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa: His Legacy and Life,” currently on display at the Bahrain National Museum until July 31. The exhibition sheds light on his role in strengthening Bahrain’s regional and international standing.
The museum is also hosting guided tours of the 52nd Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, which traces the development of Bahraini art and culture since 1972 and runs until the end of May.
As part of the celebrations, Bahraini artists Fatima Hassan and Rasha Al Nasser will lead two art workshops focusing on visual civilisation through drawing and the expression of human emotions.
The programme also features educational tours and interactive workshops for children at the Bahrain National Museum, alongside the use of the “Search for Ankiro” application aimed at enhancing the experience for families and young visitors.
