Four students. One classroom shift. And a milestone in Bahrain’s growing push for inclusive education.

At Buri Primary Boys School, four students with autism have been successfully integrated into mainstream classrooms this academic year, following a structured journey of academic, social, and behavioural development.

The process began with specialised support in dedicated classrooms, followed by gradual partial integration before full inclusion, under the supervision of qualified special education staff.

The most recent case involved student Hassan Abdulaziz Abdulameer, whose transition followed the meeting of readiness criteria, including stronger social interaction and clear academic progress. Special education teacher Ayman Ahmed Haroon said the student’s development reflected consistent progress. Learning difficulties specialist Jaafar Abbas Hilal noted that the support plan focused on strengthening language skills and applying them in everyday classroom situations.

Officials said Bahrain continues to invest in tailored programmes that help students move step by step towards full inclusion in mainstream education.
