The High Criminal Court has sentenced a 48-yearold man to three years in prison, fined him BD500, and ordered the confiscation of seized items after authorities discovered he possessed a forged 500 Saudi Riyal note while handing over property, in connection with a drug-related case.
Investigations revealed that the defendant had in his possession a counterfeit 500 Riyal banknote intended for distribution.
A police officer from the Ministry of Interior stated during the investigation that, based on a public prosecution order and subsequent inquiries, the defendant had been previously arrested by the Drug Enforcement Department on August 9, 2025, on a drug use charge. During the handover of property, the counterfeit note was discovered, and its authenticity was confirmed by the Forensics Department’s expert report.
The defendant admitted that he received the forged banknote from an unknown individual in exchange for BD30.
