Shura Council Condemns Iran Attacks

Manama: Sirens sounded at the Shura Council on Sunday, briefly interrupting remarks by member Dr Ali Al Haddad, a day after Iran launched drones and missiles towards Bahrain and other Gulf Arab states.

During the sitting, Dr Ali Al Rumaihi, Shura Council member and head of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, condemned the attacks, describing them as “a blatant violation of states’ sovereignty and the principles of international law.”

He said Bahrain had taken “immediate and firm measures” in response to the missile attacks, citing a high level of readiness and coordination across military and security sectors, which he said helped protect lives and public and private property while limiting the impact.

Dr Al Rumaihi also praised the public’s adherence to guidance issued by the competent authorities, noting that “social cohesion forms the first line of defence” against attempts to undermine security or spread rumours.

Shura Council chairman Ali Al Saleh said the council’s statement endorsed Dr Al Rumaihi’s remarks and called for unity with His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Government in condemning the attack.
