Royal Vision Positions Youth at the Core of Global Progress
As part of Bahrain’s strategic vision that places youth at the center of sustainable development, the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award has emerged as a leading global initiative. The award reflects Bahrain’s commitment to systematically investing in young talent and its belief in youth as drivers of positive change at local, regional, and international levels.
The award is founded on the steadfast confidence of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, in the transformative role of youth in creating a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. This confidence is evident in the royal patronage of the award, which is closely aligned with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, turning youth empowerment into a practical pathway to achieve all seventeen goals.
The award also aligns with the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, who emphasizes the integration of youth into public and developmental policies. It supports the government’s priorities in building human capital, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and encouraging global youth engagement.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, plays a pivotal role in guiding the award’s development and positioning it as an international platform that highlights Bahrain’s support for youth and creates opportunities for them on the global stage.
Launched in 2017 from the podium of the United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum, in strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, the award is the first of its kind to exclusively focus on youth empowerment in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It links recognition of youth achievements with creating supportive institutional environments that enhance their participation and impact worldwide.
