Electricity is a powerful tool that makes our lives easier, yet it remains a "double-edged sword." While it cools us in the scorching heat of the Bahraini summer and keeps us warm in the winter, it can also become deadly if neglected. A single invisible spark can trigger a disaster that terrifies families and turns their lives upside down.

Speaking on the Ministry of Interior’s "Al Aman" social media program, Colonel Dr. Osama Bahar, Head of Hidd Police Station, addressed parents directly about their responsibility in the home. He stated: "As a parent, you must have your home inspected by a certified electrician. They will inspect, troubleshoot, and fix faults, repair dangerous connections, and replace damaged wires inside the walls. Remember, your role is to protect those in your home."

Colonel Dr. Osama Bahar urged families to remain vigilant and not to ignore the warning signs that often precede a fire. He emphasized: "You must call for repairs immediately if you feel the plugs you're using are getting hot, if you hear a noise when you switch on the lights, or if you see sparks or flashes when you switch on the plugs." He noted that these symptoms are not minor glitches but serious alarms that require immediate professional intervention.

The danger becomes even more acute regarding water heaters and hidden wiring. The Colonel advised: "Call immediately if you see the wires are discolored or smell a burning smell coming from the wires, especially if it's related to the water heater." These incidents are not isolated cases these are not exceptions; the numbers warn of a repeating pattern, especially during the summer season. With rising temperatures in Bahrain, the risk of house fires doubles.

In his closing advice to parents, Colonel Dr. Osama Bahar touched upon a common daily habit: charging electronic devices. He clarified: "There's no harm in charging your child's device. The real danger is using a device with a counterfeit charger or a charger with cut wires, or letting the device charge and then leaving it under a pillow or anything else that could overheat and catch fire." By following these guidelines, families can ensure that electricity remains a source of comfort rather than a cause of tragedy.
