Bahrain’s Parliament Speaker Concludes Official Visit to Oman
His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Parliament, concluded an official visit to the sisterly Sultanate of Oman from 4 to 8 February, accompanied by a delegation of council members. The visit was undertaken at the kind invitation of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al-Maawali, Speaker of Oman’s Shura Council.
The official visit highlighted the deep-rooted, fraternal relations between Bahrain and Oman, emphasizing their historical ties and the mutual commitment to strengthening and consolidating them under the esteemed guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman.
Discussions during the visit reaffirmed support for enhancing bilateral cooperation across all sectors and advancing parliamentary collaboration to serve the interests of both nations and their peoples.
The Bahraini delegation held parliamentary meetings with Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al-Maawali, Speaker of Oman’s Shura Council, and His Excellency Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al-Khalili, Speaker of Oman’s State Council. The delegation also conducted field visits to the Shura Council and State Council buildings, reviewing parliamentary operations, services for members, legislative projects, community programs, and research initiatives. Opportunities for exchanging expertise and strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation were also explored.
In addition, His Excellency Al-Musallam met with His Excellency Sultan bin Salim Al-Habsi, Oman’s Minister of Finance, to discuss boosting economic and investment cooperation, expanding opportunities for the private sector in both countries, and enhancing bilateral trade in line with Oman Vision 2040 and Bahrain Vision 2030.
The Speaker and his accompanying delegation also undertook a cultural tour of several historical landmarks in Oman, exploring ways to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two nations.
His Excellency Al-Musallam expressed sincere gratitude to Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al-Maawali for the warm reception, generous hospitality, and commitment to advancing parliamentary cooperation for the benefit of both countries and peoples. He also commended the efforts of His Excellency Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Oman, for his role in reinforcing Bahrain-Oman relations and supporting bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
The Bahraini delegation included MPs Ahmed Sabah Al-Salloom, Zainab Abdul Amir Khalil, Najeeb Hamad Al-Kuwari, Mohamed Jassim Al-Alawi, Jalal Kazem Al-Mahfouz, Maryam Hassan Al-Saiegh, and Ali Saqr Al-Dosari.
