Manama: The King’s Cup round of 16 got underway yesterday with dramatic victories for Bahrain Club and Al Shabab, setting the stage for an exciting quarter-final lineup.

At Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Stadium, Bahrain Club claimed a narrow 1–0 win over Al Hidd. The breakthrough came shortly after the start of the second half, when captain Abdulla Alzayed surged down the wing and delivered a low cross into the box. Sultan Al Salatneh met it first time with an improvised side-footed volley into the far corner, leaving goalkeeper Mohamed Gharably with no chance. The goal proved decisive as Bahrain Club held firm to book their place in the last eight.

Later at the same venue, Al Shabab produced a thrilling comeback to defeat Al Malkiya 2–1. Khaled Khalaf gave Al Malkiya the lead in the 8th minute, finishing first-time after drifting into the final third. Al Shabab equalized in the 28th minute from a set-piece, as Ali Redha’s cross found Abdulrahman Ali Mohammed unmarked to head in from around the penalty spot. The decisive winner came in stoppage time, when Mujtaba Hussain picked out Daniel Omokhoa on the far post, who tapped home to complete the turnaround.

The quarter-finals continue today with Muharraq facing Isa Town at 7pm at Khalifa Sports City, while Riffa take on Manama at Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Stadium, also at 7 pm.
