Khalifa Bin Salman Port, operated by APM Terminals Bahrain, has reached a series of operational and technological milestones, strengthening its competitive position both regionally and internationally, and contributing significantly to the development of Bahrain’s ports and logistics sector.

The port has joined the Global Container Terminal Performance Index, ranking first among ports of similar size, and was named “Port of the Year 2025” in recognition of its operational efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and high-quality service.

Modernization

As part of ongoing modernization efforts, several technical initiatives have been implemented, including gate automation, a port operations management system, asset digitization, and trials of self-driving trucks within the port.

APM Terminals Bahrain has invested over $162 million in equipment and upgrades at Khalifa Bin Salman Port, in addition to generating more than US$350 million in concession revenues and fees for the Government of Bahrain.

In the area of marine services, $30 million has been invested to expand the fleet, including two 80-ton tugboats equipped with Class I firefighting systems and powered by liquefied natural gas, alongside the introduction of compatible tugboats to enhance marine operations.
