Bahrain Adds 100MW Solar Power with Al Dur Project

His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to implement key strategic projects in vital infrastructure sectors to strengthen the national economy, ensure sustainability, and enhance service efficiency.

He said these efforts align with the comprehensive development vision led by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

HE Shaikh Khalid highlighted that investing in advanced technologies is essential to developing modern infrastructure, particularly in sectors related to supply security and service continuity. He stressed the importance of integrating solar energy solutions into electricity generation to diversify energy sources, strengthen grid resilience, and achieve environmental and economic benefits that support sustainable development goals. This approach is in line with the Government Programme (2023–2026), which encourages the use of renewable energy.

His remarks were made during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Al Dur Solar Power Plant, held this morning in the presence of several ministers and senior officials. The project, implemented by the Electricity and Water Authority, will add 100 megawatts to Bahrain’s electricity network and supports the Kingdom’s energy transition efforts.
