In a special visit for the Daily Tribune, we visited Tasneem Farm which is located in Shakhoura village, where open land, animal life and family recreation come together in a carefully organised rural setting. The farm presents itself as a multi purpose destination, operating simultaneously as a restaurant, an animal garden and a space for selling pets such as birds and ornamental fish, offering visitors a complete experience rather than a brief stop.
Setting
Tasneem Farm reflects an effort to balance accessibility with authenticity. Pathways are designed to guide visitors through different zones, each introducing a new aspect of the farm’s environment. The atmosphere is calm yet active, shaped by natural sounds and constant movement, giving the visit a sense of immersion rather than observation from a distance.
Variety
The diversity of animals is one of the farm’s strongest features. A wide selection of domesticated and wild animals can be seen across the grounds. Birds appear in many forms, from chickens to ostriches, while horses and camels reinforce the farm’s regional character. Monkeys draw attention with their energy, gazelles add a quieter elegance, and the presence of a crocodile offers a rare and striking element that surprises many visitors.
Interaction
Children played a central role throughout the visit. With carrots distributed free alongside entry tickets, young visitors eagerly fed the animals, creating moments of excitement and direct engagement. The interaction transformed the experience into a learning opportunity, encouraging curiosity and respect for animals through simple, hands-on participation.
Access
During an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour for the Daily Tribune, farm staff offered insight into daily routines away from public view. We observed how horses are washed and cooled, highlighting the importance placed on animal comfort and hygiene. Staff also demonstrated how animal feed is prepared, explaining the care taken in balancing ingredients to meet different nutritional needs.
Perspective
Tasneem Farm stands as a local example of how recreation, education and responsible animal care can coexist, offering families an experience that is both enjoyable and meaningful.
