Kingdom leads Arab disaster risk reduction efforts

Bahrain’s selection to chair the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction represents a significant achievement for the Kingdom.
This was emphasised by Lieutenant General Tariq Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security and Chairman of the National Committee for Civil Emergency Management, who is set to serve as Vice Chair of the Arab Technical Committee for Marine Disaster Reduction.
He said the decision reflects Bahrain’s leading role in the Arab civil protection system and its contribution to joint efforts in disaster risk reduction.
He highlighted the support of His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, whose directives have strengthened the national emergency system and advanced readiness, coordination, and institutional development in civil protection. Lieutenant General Al Hassan said the achievement aligns with the National Emergency Strategy, which prioritises regional and international cooperation in incident.
