Sitra road and sewage projects near completion

Road, sewage and treatment-plant works worth tens of millions of dinars are under way on Sitra Island, with schemes in Blocks 602, 603 and 604 progressing alongside an expansion of the northern sewage treatment plant, the Capital Trustees Board has announced.
Board members reviewed this year’s municipal and infrastructure works in Sitra and noted that the Ministry of Works is carrying out a programme of projects in the eighth constituency to improve public facilities and meet the needs of nearby homes.
Board member Mohammed Al Abbas said roadworks in Block 602 include new streets, speed humps, underground ducts for future utility services, upgraded lighting and new direction signs and road markings.
The project, which has a total cost of BD4,421,083, has reached 88 per cent completion and is scheduled to finish in the fourth quarter of this year. He added that the first phase of the sewage network in Block 604 is designed to serve around 280 properties.
Work The work covers 5,300 metres of main pipes and 1,400 metres of secondary lines, together with 725 inspection chambers, 280 house connections and one lifting station. According to Al Abbas, the scheme is 83 per cent complete and is expected to be finished in the third quarter of 2025, at a cost of 1,349,889 dinars. Al Abbas said another sewage project in Block 603 is planned to serve 119 properties.
It involves 2,554 metres of main lines and 1,304 metres of secondary lines, plus 256 inspection chambers and one lifting station. The completion rate stands at 31 per cent and the work is due to be handed over in the third quarter of 2026, with a budget of 2,320,550 dinars.
