Bahrain and Qatar Launch First-Ever Passenger Sea Route

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications announced the official launch of a new passenger sea route between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar on Thursday. The first voyage departed at 9:00 a.m., marking a historic moment as the first of its kind to connect Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain with Al Ruwais Port in Qatar, with a travel time of just 50 minutes.

The initiative is part of the broader maritime connectivity project between the two nations, aimed at strengthening transport, tourism, and trade ties. The new service provides a comfortable and secure mode of travel for citizens, residents, and visitors, reflecting the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Bahrain and Qatar while supporting regional efforts toward Gulf maritime integration.

Ahead of the launch, a Bahraini delegation from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications visited Al Ruwais Port in Qatar, accompanied by officials from the Qatari Ministry of Transport. The visit focused on reviewing the passenger facilities and operational procedures in preparation for the new route.

The inauguration of this passenger sea line represents a significant milestone in enhancing transport infrastructure between the two countries. It is expected to open new horizons for tourism and trade cooperation, contributing to the Gulf region’s goal of a fully integrated maritime transport network.
