The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Bahrain successfully hosted an innovative event on October 17th, seamlessly blending community celebration with vital health awareness. The #GOPIOPinkPower Breast Cancer and Mental Health Awareness Event, held in association with American Mission Hospital (AMH) at the Aura Arts Centre, attracted a large crowd for an impactful evening.

Moving beyond traditional seminars, GOPIO Bahrain organized the gathering as a merged experience, combining essential awareness sessions with a lively mini-fair (Mela) and fun activities. This unique approach was designed to bring the community together to celebrate life while raising awareness for two crucial causes: breast cancer and mental health.

The event was graced by Guest of Honour Mrs. Bharati Rakesh, a cancer warrior, whose inspirational presence resonated with all attendees.

The awareness segment featured several top-tier experts. Senior Gynecologist Dr. Bhanu Vasudevan provided comprehensive insights into breast cancer awareness, strongly emphasizing the importance of early detection. Promoting holistic health, GOPIO Bahrain Health Council Head Dr. Anina Mariam Varghese conducted sessions on the significance of Homeopathy. Recognizing the interlinked nature of physical and mental well-being, Mental Health Counsellor Ms. Swati Snap led a dedicated session on mental health awareness.

The atmosphere was energized by a dynamic Zumba session led by Ms. Krishina Priya from Aura Arts, successfully integrating physical activity into the health drive. Toastmaster Ms. Fareed expertly served as the master of ceremony for the evening.

A highlight of the event was the vibrant mini-fair, which merged different GOPIO councils and provided a crucial platform for small-scale business vendors. Attendees browsed and purchased a variety of handmade items, including crafts, jewelry, and food, alongside services like henna and face painting.

GOPIO Bahrain President Mrs. Tina Mathew emphasized the initiative's dual purpose, stating, "It is crucial that we come together as a community to raise awareness while also actively supporting our small local businesses." GOPIO Vice President Mr. Samuel Paul commended the event for being "both fun and informative."
