BTEA holds series of workshops to promote business tourism
Business tourism is a foundational pillar of Bahrain’s Tourism Strategy 2022–2026, playing vital role in stimulating economic growth, diversifying revenue sources, and creating high quality jobs for Bahrainis, Her Excellency Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) said.
Her remarks came during the launch of a series of interactive workshops organized by the BTEA under the framework of the Tourism Strategy. The objective is to further elevate the sector and increase its competitiveness. The first workshop was attended by representatives of various governmental entities, while the second brought together travel and tourism agencies, hotel operators, and other relevant stakeholders.
HE the Minister presented key elements of the business tourism activation plan at the workshops, outlining proposed initiatives to boost Bahrain’s presence in this domain. These include the establishment of dedicated business tourism programs, integrating Bahraini cultural and entertainment experiences into conference and exhibition itineraries, and launching an international promotional campaign to showcase the Kingdom’s competitive advantages.
She highlighted the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships with the aim of creating an integrated business tourism ecosystem that supports sustainable growth and enhances Bahrain’s competitiveness regionally and globally as a premier destination for events, conferences, and international exhibitions.
The sessions also featured detailed discussions on enhancing coordination among stakeholders, including alignment in project roll outs and the formation of joint task forces to monitor progress. Participants reviewed the performance of the tourism sector in 2024, which recorded substantial growth in visitor and revenue numbers, reflecting the success of national strategies to consolidate Bahrain’s position as a preferred destination for both leisure and business tourism.
