Bahrain Public Prosecution Refers Human Trafficking Case to Criminal Court
The Attorney General and Head of the Human Trafficking Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution has completed its investigations into a human trafficking case and has referred two suspects of Asian nationality to criminal trial. The case is scheduled for hearing on October 13, 2025, before the High Criminal Court.
The Public Prosecution received a report from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Evidence. The victims stated that they were brought to the Kingdom of Bahrain under the pretext of attractive job offers. Upon their arrival, their passports were confiscated, their freedom was restricted in an apartment, and they were physically assaulted to coerce them into engaging in illegal activities.
The Attorney General noted that the Public Prosecution immediately initiated investigations upon receiving the complaint. This included taking statements from the victims and placing them in the shelter of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. Legal measures were taken against the suspects, and the police were tasked with conducting the necessary inquiries to uncover the circumstances of the case. Following the completion of investigations and the collection of sufficient evidence, the suspects were formally referred to criminal trial.
