Manen Josi Strikes Bronze

Three Bahraini athletes tested themselves against international opposition in a key ranking event.

Manen Josi won the bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Federation President’s Cup – Asia Region (3-Star) in Pakistan, helping the national para taekwondo team secure third place in the competition.

Bahrain competed with three athletes — Manen Josi, Ibrahim Radwan and Al Sayed Hussain Mahmood — under national para taekwondo coach Fajr Al Benaali and taekwondo teams coach Tawfiq Nouisser.

Josi competed in the women’s under-52kg category and reached the podium after progressing through the knockout stages. In the quarter-finals, she faced an Uzbekistani athlete who went on to win the gold medal in the category.

Radwan also delivered a strong performance in the men’s under-63kg category. He opened his campaign against a Pakistani opponent, winning the first round on points before securing the second by knockout.

In his following bout, Radwan faced the tournament’s top seed and the world No. 5 in a match for the bronze medal. He won the opening round by a 10-point margin but narrowly lost the second and third rounds.

Hussain Mahmood made his first appearance in the men’s category and successfully completed the classification process, securing his final classification. Competing in the under-80kg division, he faced an opponent who eventually won the silver medal.

Mahmood overcame his opening opponent, benefiting from his experience and previous international appearances.

The coaching staff described Bahrain’s participation as positive and valuable, highlighting the opportunity for the athletes to gain international experience and ranking points.

The competition also helped the technical team identify areas requiring further development as Bahrain prepares for upcoming events.

The team said the experience would support continued efforts to strengthen Bahrain’s presence in international para taekwondo competitions and further develop its athletes.
