Bahrain Participates in Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization Meeting in Uganda

Ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director-General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led Bahrain’s delegation to the 63rd annual session of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), held in Kampala, Uganda, from September 8 to 12, 2025.

Dr. Bucheeri highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to supporting AALCO’s goals in strengthening legal cooperation between Asian and African countries. He stressed the importance of keeping pace with rapid developments in international law to help promote global peace, security, and sustainable development. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s dedication to the principles of international law as a foundation for maintaining peace and stability, while underlining the value of multilateral cooperation in advancing international law and development.

The session was inaugurated under the patronage of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. On his behalf, Parliament Speaker Anita Among delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of solidarity between Asian and African nations in facing global challenges such as climate change, conflicts, technological transformations, and economic disparities. She affirmed that the rule of international law must prevail over the law of force in governing international relations.

Established in 1956, AALCO is one of the most prominent intergovernmental organizations bringing together more than 40 countries from Asia and Africa, including several Arab nations. The organization plays a key role in examining legal issues on the international agenda, shaping joint positions, and contributing to the work of the UN General Assembly and the International Law Commission.
