Bahrain Launches Advanced Research Vessel “Al Masaha 2050”
The Ministry of Interior, on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, inaugurated the advanced research vessel “Al Masaha 2050”. The ceremony was attended by senior government officials.
The vessel is part of Bahrain’s National Strategy for Survey and Land Registration, which aims to build a reliable national data system to support strategic decisions and economic development.
Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, praised Bahrain’s ongoing development efforts led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by the government under the guidance of HRH the Crown Prince. He said Bahrain’s security provides a strong foundation for investment and sustainable development.
“Al Masaha 2050” uses the latest technology, including artificial intelligence, to monitor and protect the marine environment, ensure safe navigation, and support sustainable development. The Minister also highlighted Bahrain’s safe and stable environment, which attracts both local and foreign investments while preserving natural resources.
Engineer Basim bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, Chairman of the Survey and Land Registration Authority, said the vessel marks a major step in the authority’s transformation. It will create a trusted national data system to help strategic decision-making, support economic programs, and align with the government’s 2023–2026 plan and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
The vessel project also focuses on managing marine sand resources, supporting the real estate sector, attracting investments, and encouraging private-sector partnerships in infrastructure development.
The launch ceremony included a documentary celebrating over 100 years of the Survey and Land Registration Authority, highlighting its contributions to Bahrain’s development.
The vessel is equipped with advanced systems for seabed surveys, 3D mapping, high-precision positioning, ocean current measurements, and tidal data analysis. AI technology allows real-time data analysis to support better decision-making.
“Al Masaha 2050” is a key platform for innovation and scientific research, reinforcing Bahrain’s commitment to marine studies and sustainable development.
