Pakistan community in Bahrain welcomed the appointment of the new ambassador designate Javed Malik and hoped that during his tenure the bilateral relations will be further strengthened.

“Bahrain and Pakistan enjoy fraternal, deep-rooted and time-tested ties and appointment of Javed Malik will help take these ties to new heights,” Executive Board Member at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Mohammed Sajid Sheikh said in a statement.

“We look forward to working closely with him in exploring further avenues of co-operation as well as strengthening the existing relations,” he added.

Sajid Sheikh highlighted the importance of exploring new areas of co-operation in enhancing the scope of bilateral trade and investments between the two countries.

“The private sector co-operation between the two sides is very crucial and will definitely help in enhancing two way flow of investments, trade and business activities,” he said.

Chairman Executive Board of Pakistan Club Mahmood Rafique Chaudhary said Malik’s appointment is a good move, keeping in view the experience of the ambassador-designate.

“His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s visit to Pakistan and later the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Bahrain had provided an excellent opportunity to enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries. It was agreed to initiate various efforts to expand business to business cooperation between both countries and enhancing the interaction between our business communities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain called for more efforts for an early conclusion of Pakistan-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He was speaking as he met the Ambassador-designate.

During talks with the Federal Minister for Commerce, Khurram Dastagir Khan, Malik discussed means to enhance Pakistan’s trade and commerce relations with Bahrain.

The Minister highlighted the tremendous potential of increasing trade between Pakistan and Bahrain and the GCC region and he welcomed suggestions by  Malik to hold Pakistan-Bahrain Business Opportunities Conference in 2016.
