Bahrain to Welcome Thousands of Young Athletes for 2025 Asian Youth Games

Bahrain has officially signed an agreement to host the 3rd Asian Youth Games at Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir, marking the first time the event will be held in the Kingdom. The games will run from October 22 to 31, 2025, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The signing ceremony took place at Exhibition World Bahrain, attended by Sarah Ahmed Buhejji, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority and Chairperson of Exhibition World Bahrain, and Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. The agreement was signed by Yousef Daej, Chairman of the Games’ Executive Committee, and Alan Pryor, General Manager of Exhibition World Bahrain.

Under the agreement, the venue will host the opening ceremony—held indoors for the first time in the event’s history—alongside competitions for 11 sports out of the total 24 on the Games schedule. The facility’s modern infrastructure, advanced technology, and innovative services will be fully utilized during the event.

Sarah Buhejji expressed pride in hosting such a major sporting event, which will bring thousands of young athletes from across Asia to compete at the highest level. She said the center’s world-class facilities and strategic location make it an ideal stage for showcasing athletic talent and fostering healthy competition.

Faris Al Kooheji said the collaboration reflects the strength of Bahrain’s national institutions working together for sports development, while boosting tourism and promoting Bahrain’s image as a hub for major international events.

Yousef Daej noted that the partnership ensures athletes and visitors will enjoy top-tier facilities and a professionally organized event that meets international standards. He emphasized the Games will leave a positive legacy for Bahrain’s sports sector and enhance the Kingdom’s presence on the continental and global sports map.
