Two Killed, Three Injured in Hafira Crash Involving Illegal Overtaking

The Deputy Chief of the Traffic Prosecution has confirmed the launch of a criminal investigation into a fatal traffic accident that occurred in the Hafira area, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others.

According to a report submitted by the General Traffic Directorate, the accident took place on a two-way street when a bus driver performed an illegal overtaking maneuver in violation of traffic safety regulations. The reckless act led to a direct collision with an oncoming truck.

Upon receiving the notification, the Public Prosecution promptly initiated investigations. The accused driver was interrogated and confronted with the evidence against him. Authorities have ordered his pretrial detention as the investigation continues.

Additionally, the Public Prosecution authorised the release of the bodies of the deceased to their families.

The Deputy Chief confirmed that investigations are still underway in preparation for referring the case to criminal court. Authorities reiterated their commitment to strict enforcement of traffic laws to ensure public safety on Bahrain’s roads.
