Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Environment has announced that the seasonal ban on shrimp fishing will be officially lifted starting Friday, August 1, 2025. The ban, which began in early February, was part of a national effort to protect marine life and promote sustainability in local waters.
The council emphasized that the General Directorate of Marine Resources will continue its work to safeguard biodiversity and regulate fishing activities. These efforts align with international environmental standards and aim to strike a balance between economic benefits and long-term sustainability of marine resources.
Officials also praised local fishermen for their cooperation during the ban period and urged continued collaboration with regulatory authorities. The council stressed that this partnership is essential to achieving environmental goals and ensuring the long-term health of Bahrain’s marine ecosystems.
