An Indian researcher dedicated to chronicling the lives of freedom fighters was honoured in Bahrain for his contributions to history and cultural education.
P. Harindranath, a writer, teacher, and historical researcher, was the guest of honour at a special event organised under the banner of the Bahrain Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Forum, in collaboration with the Bahrain Malayali Forum (BMF).
The event took place in Segaya and brought together prominent figures from Bahrain’s Indian community.
Freedom Legacy Remembered
Delivering the keynote address, Harindranath explored the legacy of Dadabhai Naoroji and Mahatma Gandhi, delving into their pivotal roles in India’s freedom struggle.
The session provided an educational reflection on how their leadership and sacrifices shaped modern India.
Babu Kunhiraman, President of the Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Forum, presided over the event and formally honoured Harindranath with a gift. BMF Secretary Suresh Veerachery welcomed the guests.
Community Participation
The event saw participation from a wide cross-section of Bahrain’s residents, including Deepa Jayachandran, Abraham John, Gafoor Kaippamangalam, and S.V. Basheer, among others. The evening’s proceedings were coordinated by Babina Sunil and hosted by Saji Samuel, Suresh Pundoor, Sajith Vellikulangara, Abdul Salam, Mujeeb Rahman, and Baiju Arad.
By honouring Harindranath’s research, the community underscored the continuing relevance of historical understanding in bridging cultures and preserving shared legacies abroad.
