Engineer Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Resources at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, represented Bahrain in a special meeting held in Kuwait to discuss a unified food security strategy for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The meeting brought together high-level officials responsible for agriculture and food security from across the GCC. Their main focus was to strengthen cooperation and build a joint strategy that would ensure sustainable and secure food supplies for the region.

Key topics included enhancing regional food systems, increasing agricultural resilience, and boosting collaboration between member states. The discussions aimed to support the broader goals of Gulf unity and shared development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, officials agreed on a number of steps. These included continuing the work of the joint technical team to finalize the unified food security strategy, maintaining open channels for sharing food security data, and strengthening coordination on food-related issues among GCC countries.

This initiative marks a significant move toward creating a more self-reliant and food-secure Gulf region.
