The Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) convened its General Assembly on the evening of Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Society’s headquarters, witnessing a strong turnout from voting members.

The meeting included the presentation and approval of both the administrative and financial reports, a review of key agenda items, and the election of a new Board of Directors for the 2025–2027 term.

The session was inaugurated with a welcoming address by Dr. Amer Alderazi, President of the Society, who expressed his deep appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unwavering support of the healthcare sector and its professionals.

Pivotal role

Dr. Alderazi also acknowledged the pivotal role of the Supreme Council of Health, the Ministry of Health, and key regulatory bodies — chief among them the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) — in promoting the professionalism, independence, and integrity of medical practice in the Kingdom.

In his remarks, Dr. Alderazi reflected on the accomplishments of the outgoing Board, highlighting its voluntary efforts in advancing professional programs, building medical workforce capabilities, and strengthening the Society’s role as a unified, independent voice for Bahrain’s doctors.

New Board of Directors Following a transparent and well-organized electoral process, seven members were elected to the new Board of Directors for the 2025–2027 term, including two new additions to the leadership team: Dr. Amer Alderazi – President; Dr. Amal Al-Ghaem – Vice President; Dr. Maram Al-Sharbaty – Secretary General; Dr. Hamza Muneer – Treasurer; Dr. Yousef Al-Tahoo – Executive Member; Dr. Amal Dawood – Executive Member; and Dr. Ghada AlZayani – Executive Member.

On this occasion, the newly elected Board extended its sincere gratitude to outgoing members for their meaningful contributions and warmly welcomed the new appointees.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the medical profession, empowering physicians, and strengthening the Society’s role in representing the medical community across Bahrain.
