Artificial intelligence scrutiny, Atlantic access for Sahel nations, and energy security led the discussions as Bahrain’s parliamentary group joined the closing session of the Mediterranean Economic Forum in Marrakech.
The forum, held from 23 to 24 May in Morocco, brought together representatives from across the region to examine shared challenges and cross-border cooperation.
One of the main sessions focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence and how parliaments might oversee its use.
Speakers looked at ways to balance progress with proper safeguards. Another part of the programme centred on a royal initiative aimed at opening access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean. The move was framed as a strategic step towards greater peace and economic links.
