His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, led Bahrain’s delegation to the 37th Meeting of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Heads of Olympic Committees of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in the State of Kuwait on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The Bahraini delegation also included His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Mr. Fares Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Ms. Fajer Jassim, a board member of the committee.

Key decisions made during the meeting included assigning the Executive Office and relevant committees to review the final report of the 3rd GCC Beach Games recently hosted by the Sultanate of Oman. The council also approved Qatar’s request to host the 4th GCC Sports Games in 2026 and endorsed Kuwait’s bid to host the 2nd GCC Youth Games in 2028.

The council emphasized the importance of the Coordination and Follow-up Committee preparing a comprehensive schedule for collective Gulf sports tournaments for the years 2029–2032, aligning with regional and international sports calendars.

Additionally, the UAE was approved to host the first-ever GCC Sports Law and Management Conference in 2026. The council also urged all Olympic committees to support the development of a unified platform for Gulf women’s sports, aiming to ensure its success.

Another major initiative approved was the organization of an annual or periodic Gulf Women's Sports Hackathon under the supervision of the Women’s Sports Advisory Committee, designed to foster innovation and multidisciplinary participation, with awards granted to winning projects.

In conclusion, it was agreed that the GCC General Secretariat and the UAE, as the chair of the next session, will coordinate to determine the venue and date of the 38th council meeting, which will be preceded by a preparatory meeting of the Executive Office.
