Bahrain and IOC Explore Deeper Sports Collaboration in Kuwait Summit

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, met with newly-elected President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mrs. Kirsty Coventry, during his visit to the State of Kuwait.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the GCC Olympic Committee Presidents' meeting and the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Present at the meeting were HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee; Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee; and Board Member Ms. Fajer Jassim.

During the meeting, HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated Mrs. Coventry on her recent appointment as IOC President, wishing her success in leading the world’s foremost Olympic institution. He affirmed Bahrain’s full support for all initiatives aimed at advancing the global Olympic movement and promoting the values of sport, peace, and cooperation.

Discussions also focused on ways to strengthen collaboration between the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the IOC, including the exchange of expertise in Olympic program development, women's empowerment in sports, and expanding sports participation. These efforts aim to further elevate Bahrain’s presence in the international sports arena.

Both sides praised the strength of bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts to support athletes in line with the core principles and values of the Olympic movement.
