The Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, highlighted the importance of Bahrain’s National Environment Day today.
He emphasised cooperation and commitment to protecting natural resources and achieving sustainable development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Al Mubarak highlighted the event’s role in raising environmental awareness and promoting positive practices in the community.
Bahrain continues efforts to protect the environment, launching key initiatives in 2024, including National Tree Week by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in October, aiming to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035 as part of Bahrain’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
The minister commended the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), led by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the SCE, for its recycling and waste reduction efforts.
He also noted His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Bahrain Mangroves Initiative, which promotes community engagement in mangrove planting.
