HRH Crown Prince to Represent Bahrain at 45th GCC Summit

On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, will represent Bahrain at the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit in Kuwait. This was announced by the Royal Court following an invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait.

GCC Milestones

Since its inception in 1981, the GCC has fostered cooperation among Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Oman. Key achievements include a development fund and plans for a joint military command. The bloc also mediated disputes, notably during the 2017 Qatar crisis.

Key Priorities

Recent summits have focused on economic integration, with projects like the $250 billion Gulf Railway. Discussions have also centred on counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and protecting crucial waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Focus Areas

This year’s agenda includes regional stability, economic diversification, and climate action, reflecting the GCC’s unified stance on global challenges like COVID-19 and energy transitions.
