AVO honours BOC at Cairo event

The Arab Volleyball Organisation (AVO) recently honoured the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) at a special celebration ceremony marking its 40th anniversary in Cairo, Egypt.

AVO president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa presented a special award to BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar in appreciation to the committee’s contributions to sports in the Kingdom.

BOC board member Ali Ishaaqi was also present at the ceremony, attended by prominent sports figures such as Egyptian deputy sports minister Subhi Mesa’ad and Asian Volleyball Confederation Saleh bin Nasser, as other prominent national sports federations were honoured on this occasion.

Askar said he was pleased with the award and underlines the efforts and hard work of the BOC and noted the achievements of the AVO since 1991 when its premises was moved to Bahrain.

The BOC general secretary commended the significant role of the organisation under Shaikh Ali to improve the level of the sport in the Arab region and extended BOC’s continuous support to the organisation.
