“War with Tehran would be sure to follow” if world powers settle for a bad new nuclear deal with Iran, warned an Israeli cabinet minister. “Our planes can reach everywhere in the Middle East - and certainly Iran,” Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen said.

Israel, Cohen said, is not bound by diplomacy and “a bad deal will send the region spiralling into war.” “Anyone seeking short-term benefits should be mindful of the longer-term,” he warned adding, “Israel will not allow Iran to attain nuclear arms.

Iran has no immunity anywhere.” President Joe Biden is exploring a possible US return to the 2015 deal to contain Iran’s nuclear programme that his predecessor Donald Trump abandoned.

Iran, which this week resumed indirect talks with US envoys in Vienna on reversing its retaliatory violations of the deal in exchange for the removal of sanctions reimposed by Trump, has also ruled out any further limitations on Iranian actions.

Cohen said that in addition to denying Iran the means of enriching uranium and developing ballistic missiles, world powers should make it stop “destabilising other countries” and funding militants.

The Vienna talks have been overshadowed by what appeared to be mutual sabotage attacks on Israeli and Iranian ships, as well as an explosion at Iran’s Natanz enrichment plant that Tehran blamed on Israel.

Cohen, in keeping with Israeli policy, declined all comment. Israel sent senior delegates to Washington this week to discuss Iran with US counterparts.

Former US Secretary has warned Washington against lifting sanction on Iran, as he also called the rollback of designation of Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis as terrorists an “enormous mistake”.

“This will put not only ally countries in danger but Americans in the region as well, said Mike Pompeo adding, “No one disputes that the Houthis are terrorists.” “I don’t know how you convince the Houthis not to take that weaponry and fire missiles into southern Saudi Arabia to put frankly Americans who are travelling in Saudi Arabia at risk. “I don’t understand.

Iran says deal with Saudi key to stability

Meanwhile, Iran yesterday stressed the importance of cooperation and dialogue with Saudi Arabia, saying that it will guarantee security and stability in the region.

Al Arabiya, quoting the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said, “Riyadh and Tehran can adopt constructive dialogue and overcome differences.”

The statement also stressed that Saudi and Iranian cooperation is crucial for ensuring security and stability in the region. Iranian foreign ministry also welcomed the statement of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on relations with Tehran.
